Garama and Madundung
Two opposites who refuse to be seen apart.
A salt shaker and a honey jar, each with a face and a pair of legs, standing shoulder to shoulder the way they always do. Garam is salt, madu is honey. They come from Indonesia, from a song about being caught between the sweet part and the part that stings, and they have never once been drawn on their own.

Questions about Garama and Madundung
What is Garama and Madundung?
Garama and Madundung are two characters that always come as a pair: a salt shaker and a honey jar, each with a face and a pair of legs.
They come from Indonesia, from a wave of short videos people there call anomali. The idea is close to Italian brainrot and grew alongside it: take an ordinary household object, give it a human face and legs, film it doing almost nothing, and let the sound carry the joke. Anomali videos lean a little more towards unsettling than silly, which is why these two are usually shot at night.
What holds them together is a song. Their names are built out of the Indonesian words for salt and honey, and there is a real Indonesian song called Garam and Madu that the whole thing is hanging off. Without the song they are just two containers. With it, they are a pair.
Ours are drawn as a matched set, built block by block, because they only ever appear together.
How do you get Garama and Madundung in Steal a Brainrot, and are they being nerfed?
They come as a pair, not as two separate brainrots, which is the right way round.
Getting them works the way it works for anything near the top of the list: wait for them to come round, have the money saved, or steal a set from somebody else's base. Taking them is a legitimate route and losing them the same way is part of the deal.
The other half of this question is the one people actually worry about: are they getting nerfed, removed or deleted. That worry comes round for every high tier brainrot, and the honest answer is that the developer rebalances the game and nobody outside that team knows what is in the next update until it ships. Videos announcing a nerf are usually a guess with a confident thumbnail.
So we are not printing a price, an earnings rate, a rarity tier, a spawn chance or an exist count. Those change, every fan trading site lists something different, and any number here would be wrong within a month. The figure inside the game is the only real one.
The shop has nothing to do with the game. We draw the characters, we do not run anybody's base.
What are the rainbow, gold, diamond and candy Garama and Madundung?
Mutations. They come from the game, not from the characters.
In Steal a Brainrot a brainrot can turn up wearing a different finish, and the list is long: rainbow, gold, diamond, candy, galaxy, yin yang, radioactive, lava, bloodrot and more get added over time. Underneath it is the same salt shaker and the same honey jar. What changes is how they look and what they earn while they sit in your base.
This is why searching for rainbow Garama gives you screenshots that do not match each other. You are looking at the same pair with different paint on them, from different versions of the game.
Which mutations exist, how rare each one is and what each is worth are all set by the developer and get rebalanced, so we are not listing values. The game is the only place those are current.
None of this exists outside the game. There is no canon rainbow version in the videos. Mutations are a game feature, and a good one, but they are not part of who these two are.
What is their full name, and why is it spelled so many different ways?
Because the short version is a nickname, and the long version is barely spellable on purpose.
The full name runs something like Garamararamararaman dan Madudungdung tak tuntung perkuntung. Nobody says that at speed and nobody types it twice the same way, which is exactly the joke. Indonesian makes words longer by repeating parts of them, so the name takes garam and madu and stretches both until they fall over. Dan simply means and.
Saying it is easier than reading it. Break it into chunks and keep them even: ga-ra-ma-ra-ra-ma-ra-ra-man, dan, ma-du-dung-dung, tak tun-tung per-kun-tung. Every vowel is short and flat. Speed is the only hard part.
Garama and Madundung is the short form almost everyone uses, and it is what we call them here.
The spellings you will meet include Garam and Madundung, Garama Madundung, Madudungdung, Garamararam and Madundung, Garama Madung, Garama Dung Dung and Marama Madundung. They are all the same pair. Names here spread by ear rather than in writing, so there is no correct spelling, only a more common one. Our search box matches the variants, so type whatever you remember.
What is the Garama and Madundung sound?
There are two different sounds people mean, and they get mixed up constantly.
The first is the song. Garam and Madu, full title Garam & Madu (Sakit Dadaku), by the Indonesian artists Tenxi, Jemsii and Naykilla. It came out at the end of 2024 and went very big on TikTok, which is what put those two words in front of millions of people before any character existed. The title translates as Salt and Honey (My Chest Hurts), and it is about being caught between the sweet part of a relationship and the part that stings. It is a real song by real musicians, not a meme soundtrack.
The second is the noise they make in Steal a Brainrot when they spawn. That one is the game's own audio, it is not the song, and it changes when the game changes. If you are hunting for it as a soundboard clip or a ringtone, that is the one you are after.
There is also a story that goes round: play the song late at night and the pair turn up. That is fan lore, invented by people making videos. It is not in the song and nobody official ever said it. It is a good story, which is why it spread.
We keep the pair and leave the haunting to the internet.
How do you draw Garama and Madundung?
Draw them as a pair from the start. Sketch two boxes side by side before anything else, because if you draw one properly and then try to fit the second one in, they end up different heights and the whole thing stops working.
Each one is a tall box with a lid. Garama, the salt, is pale grey or white, and his lid is a flat slab sitting across the top and sticking out past the edges. Madundung, the honey, is golden yellow with a warmer cream lid. Same shape, different colour, that is the only difference at this stage.
The faces go on the front of the box, filling most of it. Two rectangular eyes with a black bar in the middle of each, a blunt nose between them, and a wide flat mouth underneath. Keep them square. Nothing on these two is round.
Legs come out of the bottom: two stumpy ones each, pale cream with small brown patches scattered on them, ending in blocky feet.
If you want ours exactly, everything is built out of little cubes, like a model made of bricks. Draw the outline first and then break the surface into squares afterwards, rather than trying to build it cube by cube from the start.

What does Garama and Madundung mean, and is it salt and pepper?
It is salt and honey, not salt and pepper. That is the single most common mix up with these two, and it is an easy mistake to make, because a pale shaker standing next to a darker one looks exactly like a cruet set.
Garam is the Indonesian word for salt, and Garama is the pale one. Madu is honey, and Madundung is the golden one. Dan, in the longer version of their name, means and. Look again at the golden one and it is a honey jar, not a pepper pot.
So unlike most brainrot names, this one is not nonsense. Strip the stretched syllables away and you are left with two very ordinary kitchen words. The nonsense is what happens to those words when somebody repeats them until they stop sounding like words at all.
Salt and honey is also a pairing that means something: two opposites that people keep next to each other anyway. That is the whole character, and it is why they are never drawn apart.
Are Garama and Madundung real, and are they Italian brainrot?
They are not real, and they are not Italian. Two separate questions, both worth answering properly.
On real: no. There is no salt shaker and no honey jar out there with a face and legs. They were made with AI image tools by people posting short videos, and every picture of them since, including ours, is a drawing of a drawing. If you have seen a clip that looks like security camera footage, that is the style, not evidence. The style is the whole point.
On Italian: they are filed under Italian brainrot but they did not come from it. They are Indonesian. Italian brainrot is the wave with the mock Italian names, the shark in trainers and the crocodile bomber. Indonesia had its own version running at the same time, called anomali, where the characters are everyday objects with human faces and the mood sits closer to a ghost story than a joke. These two come from that side.
The two waves borrowed from each other constantly, and Italian brainrot became the umbrella name for all of it. So you will find them in the same lists, games and playlists as Tralalero Tralala, with nothing Italian about them.
They are not the only ones. Tung Tung Tung Sahur is Indonesian too, and is based on the kentongan, the wooden drum used to wake people before dawn in Ramadan.
How to dress as Garama and Madundung
Both builds are the same shape: a box over the torso with the head sticking out of the top, and legs left free underneath.
Garama is the salt. A white or pale grey box, cardboard taped into a rectangle, worn over the shoulders with straps inside. Add a lid: a slightly wider flat piece across the top, in a darker grey, overhanging the edges by a few centimetres. That overhang is what makes it read as a shaker rather than a crate.
Madundung is the honey. Same box, painted golden yellow or wrapped in yellow paper, with a lid in a warmer cream or light brown. Rounder corners help if you can manage them.
The faces go on the front of each box, not on your own face. Big square eyes with a black bar in the middle, a blunt nose and a straight mouth, all cut from card and glued on. Keep them simple and keep them large. Both faces should be drawn in the same style as each other.
Legs stay bare or in cream trousers, with brown patches taped or drawn on.
Cut a slot to see through, or leave the box open at the bottom of the face. Practise walking before you leave the house, because you will not see your feet.
Without the build, two character tees worn by two people standing together does the job, and everybody gets the joke immediately.
