Lirili Larila, the cactus elephant brainrot character in sandals

Lirili Larila

Half cactus, half elephant, entirely unbothered.

An elephant head on a green cactus body, walking across the desert in a pair of sandals that were clearly not made for him. He is the calm one. Most brainrot characters are shouting, exploding or holding something sharp. Lirili Larila is just walking, and he has been walking for a while.

Meet Lirili Larila

Lirili Larila is an elephant head on a cactus body, walking across an empty desert in a pair of sandals several sizes too big for him.

He arrived with the first wave of Italian brainrot characters in early 2025, and the format was already fixed by then: one AI picture, a text to speech voice reading a few lines of pseudo Italian, and a name built out of pure sound rather than words. Lirili larila does not mean anything, in Italian or in any other language. It is what Italian sounds like to somebody humming along without knowing the words.

What kept him around is the tone. Most of the cast is loud. He is the quiet one, ambling through sand with no destination and no apparent hurry, usually with a small alarm clock somewhere in the picture that nobody has ever explained.

“Walking slowly. Living perfectly.”

The story

Two halves that should cancel each other out, put together anyway.

An elephant is the heaviest thing that walks, all water and weight, and it belongs where there is water. A cactus is the opposite: the plant that survives by having none, standing in one spot for fifty years without going anywhere. Fuse them and you get an animal built entirely wrong for the place it lives, which is exactly where the videos put him, out in open sand with nothing on the horizon.

The sandals are the detail that makes it funny rather than sad. They are too big, they are the sort of thing you slide on to walk to the shop, and he is wearing them across a desert. Somebody dressed for a short errand and then simply kept going.

The clip that started it is short, and it has the same shape as everything else from that spring: one picture, a synthetic Italian voice, a few rhyming lines whose only job is to get the name into your head. It worked. Within weeks he was in fan remixes alongside Tralalero Tralala and Brr Brr Patapim, in chants that string ten of these names together over a funk beat, in a Roblox game, and drawn thousands of times by children who had never seen the original at all.

Then there is the clock, which appears in most pictures of him and which nothing explains. No creator has spoken up, no version of the video accounts for it, and every meaning attached to it was attached afterwards by fans. We have kept it in our drawing, because he looks wrong without it, and we are not going to invent a reason for it.

We draw him the way he is usually drawn. Mid stride, ears out, trunk down, sandals flapping, going nowhere in particular and taking his time about it.

“Nowhere to be, and all day to get there.”

Trivia

  • The name is pure sound. Lirili larila is not Italian and does not translate, it is the noise of humming a tune without the words.
  • Cactus body, elephant head, and no neck in between. That jump from green to grey is what makes him recognisable at a glance.
  • He is not the only elephant in the trend. Cocofanto Elefanto has a coconut for a body, which is why searching for the elephant brainrot returns both.
  • A small alarm clock turns up in most pictures of him, and no source has ever explained why.
  • He came out of the same early 2025 wave as most of the brainrot names people still use.

Questions about Lirili Larila

What is Lirili Larila?

Lirili Larila is one of the Italian brainrot characters: an elephant head on a green cactus body, walking across a desert in a pair of oversized sandals.

Italian brainrot is a wave of short AI made videos that took off at the start of 2025. The recipe is always the same. Take two things that have no business being fused, fuse them anyway, give the result a nonsense name that sounds Italian when you say it fast, and let a text to speech voice read a few rhyming lines over the top. Tralalero Tralala is a shark in trainers. Brr Brr Patapim is a tree with a monkey face. Lirili Larila is a cactus that is also an elephant.

What makes him stand out is the mood. Most of these characters are shouting or holding something sharp. He is just walking, and he looks like he has been walking for a very long time.

Is Lirili Larila in Steal a Brainrot?

Yes. Steal a Brainrot is a Roblox game where players collect brainrot characters, park them in a base and earn cash while other players try to steal them. Lirili Larila is one of the characters in it, and for a lot of people that game is where they met him first, before any video.

We are not going to print his rarity tier or his price here, and that is on purpose. Those numbers get rebalanced by the developer, and every fan trading site lists something different. Anything we wrote today would be wrong within a month. Check inside the game, where the value is the real one.

The same goes for mutations. Players talk about a strawberry version and other mutated variants, which change how a brainrot looks and how much it earns. Which mutations exist, and what they are worth, is decided in the game and keeps moving.

The shop has nothing to do with the game. We draw the characters, we do not run anybody's base.

What is the Lirili Larila song, and what is Orcalero Orcala doing in it?

There is no official Lirili Larila song. What people are usually looking for is one of two things.

The first is the original clip. It is short: one picture, and a text to speech voice reading a few lines of pseudo Italian over it. The name is repeated because repeating it is the whole hook. That is all the original is, and there is no full version hiding somewhere.

The second is what fans built on top. People strung the characters together into one long chant, usually in the same running order, and set it to a funk or phonk beat. That is why you keep seeing Lirili Larila next to Orcalero Orcala, or in a list with Brr Brr Patapim, Tralalero Tralala and Cappuccino Assassino. They are not a band and there is no story connecting them. They are just names that sound good one after another, and each remix arranges them slightly differently.

So the lyrics you find will not match between versions, because there is no original set of lyrics to match.

What does Lirili Larila mean, and how do you say it?

It does not mean anything. That is not a dodge, it is the answer.

Lirili larila is not Italian. It is the sound Italian makes to somebody who does not speak it: light, sing song, all vowels, the noise of somebody humming a tune without words. Italians have their own version of this, a la la la for when you cannot be bothered with the lyrics, and the name is playing exactly that note. If you run it through a translator you will get nothing back, and that is correct.

This is worth knowing because some of the other names in this trend do translate. Cappuccino Assassino really is killer coffee. This one is the opposite kind of name: pure sound, chosen because it is fun in the mouth.

Saying it: lee REE lee, la REE la. Four beats, stress on the second syllable of each half, and the second half is just the first half sung a step lower. You will also see it written Lirili Larila with accents on the last vowels, which is how Italian spelling marks that stress. Same name either way. Spellings wander in this whole trend, because these names are invented and travel by ear.

How do you draw Lirili Larila?

Build him from the bottom up and he comes out right almost every time.

Start with the cactus, because the cactus is the body. One tall rounded column down the middle, and two shorter arms coming off it, one on each side, curving upward like a saguaro. Keep the whole shape a bit fat and soft, not spiky and thin.

Put the elephant on top. A wide head, two big floppy ears hanging off the sides, small eyes set close together and a short trunk that hangs down and curls a little at the tip. The head sits right on the cactus with no neck at all. That jump from green body to grey head is what makes people recognise him.

Now the details that do the work. Little white spines dotted across the cactus in even rows, two stumpy legs at the bottom, and a pair of big brown sandals that are clearly too big for him.

Background is easy: a flat horizon, pale sand, a wide empty sky. He is always walking somewhere and never arriving.

If you want to colour him in, green body, grey head, brown sandals, white spines. Ours is drawn the same way, so you can use the picture at the top of this page to work from.

Which brainrot character is the elephant?

There is more than one, so it depends which one you saw.

If the body was a green cactus and the feet were in sandals, that is Lirili Larila, and you are on the right page.

If the body was a brown coconut, that is Cocofanto Elefanto. Different character, also an elephant head, completely different everything else.

Searching for the elephant brainrot will bring you both, which is why people end up on the wrong one and assume they have the name wrong. The head is the part they share. The body is the part that tells them apart.

One more that gets tangled in: players sometimes talk about a strawberry elephant. That comes out of the Roblox game, where a mutation changes how a brainrot looks. It is not a separate character with its own name.

Why does Lirili Larila have a clock?

Honest answer: nobody knows, and anyone who tells you the reason is making it up.

The clock shows up in a lot of the pictures of him, usually a small round alarm clock sitting near his feet or carried along with him. It is not in every version, and no reliable source explains where it came from or what it is supposed to mean. There is no creator statement, no scene that explains it, nothing to check an answer against.

The explanations people give, that he is running out of time, or that he is late for something, or that he is the only one keeping track, are fan readings. Some of them are lovely. None of them are official, because there is no official.

Our own drawing keeps the clock, because that is how people picture him and a version without it looks wrong. What it means is up to you.

How to dress as Lirili Larila

Lirili Larila is a green costume with a grey head, and that is most of the job done.

The body is the cactus. A green hoodie or oversized t-shirt gets you most of the way, with green leggings underneath. For the real shape, a cardboard or foam tube worn over the torso, painted green and rounded at the top, reads as a cactus from across a room. The two arms can be stuffed green tights taped to the sides and bent upward.

The spines are the cheapest part and the part people notice. Small white felt triangles, or dots of white fabric paint, in rows down the front and over the arms. They do not need to be neat, only evenly spaced.

The head is grey. A grey hood with two large ears cut from felt glued to the sides, and a trunk made from a rolled strip of felt hanging down the front. Stuff it lightly so it holds a soft curve instead of flopping flat.

Sandals finish it, and they should be too big. Brown flip flops over thick socks, the more oversized the better. That is the joke, so do not make them fit.

The clock is optional and it is what gets the double take. A small alarm clock carried in one hand, or a paper one on a ribbon.

Without the build, a character tee, green trousers and brown sandals is recognised instantly, and you can sit down in it.
