Trippi Troppi, the ginger cat head on a shrimp body brainrot character

Trippi Troppi

Cat at the front, seafood at the back.

A ginger cat from the ears down to the whiskers, and a shrimp from the neck back. Segmented shell, fan tail, long antennae, and a row of thin legs underneath. The cat half is drawn straight, like a real cat looking at something. That is what makes the rest of it land.

Meet Trippi Troppi

Trippi Troppi is a ginger cat head on a shrimp body. Amber eyes, pointed ears and proper cat stripes at the front, then a segmented orange shell curving away behind, a fan tail, long antennae and a row of thin legs underneath.

He came out of Italian brainrot in February 2025, and he arrived in an unusual order. Most of these characters started as a picture. This one started as a sound: a few seconds of a synthetic voice chanting the name, which people then attached to whatever creature they had made. The shrimp cat is the version that stuck, but it was never the only one, and that is why searching the name still turns up something with a fish for a head.

The name means nothing. Trippi, Troppi. Say a shape twice and change one vowel, the same way English makes flip flop and tick tock. It sounds like Italian without being Italian, which is the whole trick of this trend.

The story

This one is worth telling properly, because it is the clearest example of how these characters actually get made.

In late January 2025 a chant called Trulimero Trulichina was going round, set to a cat and fish hybrid. A few weeks later, in the middle of February, the Trippi Troppi chant turned up. The earliest video anybody has found using it does not show a cat at all: it shows a furry, pot bellied, two legged thing with a fish for a head.

So the name went out into the world with no fixed creature attached. People heard four syllables they liked and put them over whatever they had generated that afternoon. Somewhere in that scramble somebody put a ginger cat's head on a prawn, and that is the one everybody remembers.

It works because the cat half is played completely straight. It is not a cartoon cat. It is a real looking animal, stripes and whiskers and a slightly distracted expression, apparently unaware that it has been issued with a tail full of shell and about a dozen legs. The joke is entirely in the join.

The loose ends never got tidied up. Fans and games added a longer name, Trippi Troppi Troppa Trippa, to separate the versions, and then used it inconsistently, so today you will find both creatures filed under both names by people equally sure they have it right. Nobody can settle it. There was never anyone in charge.

We have drawn the shrimp cat, because that is the one people mean. Head turned, whiskers out, eyes on something off to the side, and every one of those legs where it should be.

“Trippi troppi, and nothing after that means anything either.”

Trivia

  • The sound came before the picture. The earliest known video using the Trippi Troppi chant shows a creature with a fish for a head, not a cat.
  • The name means nothing. Say a shape twice and change one vowel, the way English makes flip flop and tick tock.
  • There is more than one creature under this name, and the longer version, Trippi Troppi Troppa Trippa, is not used consistently by anybody.
  • Burbaloni Luliloli is a separate character, not the second half of this one's name. They just travel together in the chants.
  • A closely related chant, Trulimero Trulichina, was going round a few weeks earlier attached to a cat and fish hybrid.

Questions about Trippi Troppi

What is Trippi Troppi?

A ginger cat from the ears down to the whiskers, and a shrimp from the neck back. Segmented orange shell, a fan tail, long antennae, black stalk eyes sitting on top of the cat's head, and a great many legs.

That is the version almost everybody pictures when they hear the name, and it is the one we have drawn.

It comes from Italian brainrot, the wave of short AI videos from early 2025 where the recipe was always the same: fuse two things that do not belong together, give the result a name that sounds Italian when you say it fast, and let a text to speech voice chant it over the top. Trippi Troppi is one of the ones that made it out of that wave and into the games, the playgrounds and the drawing tutorials.

One warning before you go looking: the name is attached to more than one creature, and they are not all cats. That is its own question, and it is the next one on this page.

Why are there two Trippi Troppis, and what is Trippi Troppi Troppa Trippa?

Because the sound came first and the picture came second, and more than one picture got attached to it.

Most of these characters started as an image. This one started as audio. The earliest known video using the Trippi Troppi sound, from February 2025, does not show a shrimp cat at all: it shows a furry, pot bellied, two legged creature with a fish for a head. A closely related chant, Trulimero Trulichina, had already been going round a few weeks earlier attached to a cat and fish hybrid.

So from the very start the name was floating free, and people set it to whatever creature they had made. The shrimp cat is the one that stuck hardest, and it is what most people mean today.

The longer name, Trippi Troppi Troppa Trippa, came later, from fans and from the games, as a way of telling the versions apart. Here is the honest part: it is not used consistently. Some places use the long name for the fish headed one and the short name for the cat. Other places use the long name for the cat. You will find both, confidently stated, and there is no authority to appeal to, because there never was one.

What that means in practice: check the picture, not the name. If it has a cat head and a shrimp body, that is the one on this page, whichever name it is filed under.

How do you get Trippi Troppi in Steal a Brainrot?

The usual ways: wait for it to come round in the game, have the money saved when it does, or steal one from somebody else's base. Taking it is a legitimate route, and losing it the same way is part of the deal.

One thing catches people out here more than with most characters. Because the name is attached to more than one creature, the game may list the cat and the fish headed version as two separate entries, at different tiers, obtained in different ways. A guide that tells you exactly how to get Trippi Troppi may be talking about the other one entirely. Check the picture in the guide against the picture in your game before you follow it.

We are not printing a price, an earnings rate, a rarity tier or a spawn chance. Those get rebalanced by the developer, every fan trading site lists something different, and any number here would be out of date within a month. The figure inside the game is the only real one.

Also worth checking which game you are in. These characters turn up in more than one Roblox game, and a method for one will not work in another.

The shop has nothing to do with any of them. We draw the characters, we do not run anybody's base.

What is the Trippi Troppi Burbaloni Luliloli song?

It is a chant rather than a song, and Burbaloni Luliloli is a different character, not a second half of this one's name.

What happened is this. Each character arrived with a few seconds of a text to speech voice repeating its name. Then people started stringing the names together, one after another, over a beat, and those chains travelled further than any of the original clips. Trippi Troppi, Burbaloni Luliloli, Tung Tung Tung Sahur, Lirili Larila, Tralalero Tralala. They are not a group and there is no story connecting them. They are names that sound good in a row.

That is why the lyrics you find will not match between versions. Every remix picks its own running order and its own length, so there is no original list to check against. Searching for the lyrics of a particular chain usually turns up a transcription of one specific video rather than anything official.

The short clip that started this character is much less than people expect: a few seconds, one picture, a voice saying the name. Everything else was built on top by other people.

How do you draw Trippi Troppi?

The trick is that the cat and the shrimp meet at the neck and nowhere else. Draw them as two separate things and push them together at the end.

Start with the cat head, and draw it properly: a wide ginger head in three quarter view, two pointed ears, stripes running back from the forehead, big round amber eyes, a pink triangle nose, and a pale muzzle. Long white whiskers. If the head looks like a real cat, the joke lands. If it looks cartoonish, it does not.

The body is a prawn tail coming out of the back of the neck, curving away and upward. Draw it as a row of overlapping segments, each one a curved band a little smaller than the last, in orange with a paler underside, finishing in a fan of thin tail plates.

The legs are the part people skip and they are half the character. A long row of thin jointed legs hanging down from underneath, all the same, getting slightly shorter towards the back. Draw far more than feels reasonable. Each one bends twice and ends in a point.

Last, the two details that make it unsettling rather than cute: a pair of long thin antennae sweeping back from the face, and two small black stalk eyes sitting on top of the cat's head, above the real eyes.

Use the picture at the top of this page to work from.

What is Los Trippi Troppi?

The group version. Los is the Spanish plural the, and sticking it on the front of a brainrot name to mean several of them is a running joke across the whole trend. Los Tralaleritos does the same thing to Tralalero Tralala, Los Chicleteira to Chicleteira Bicicleteira.

So if you are looking at a crowd of shrimp cats rather than one, that is Los Trippi Troppi. One on its own is the character this page is about.

It is worth knowing because in the games the group versions are usually separate entries sitting higher up the list than the single ones, and they are often what people are actually hunting for when they search the plain name.

The Spanish article on an Italian sounding name attached to a shrimp is not a mistake anybody is trying to fix. These names are assembled by ear out of whatever sounds right, and los at the front of a crowd sounds right.

What does Trippi Troppi mean?

Nothing. It is sound, not language, and that is the honest answer rather than a dodge.

It is built the way a lot of these names are built: take a shape, say it twice, change one vowel. Trippi, Troppi. English does the same thing constantly, in flip flop, tick tock, ping pong, and the rule is the same in both languages, the bright vowel goes first. It sounds like Italian without being Italian, which is the entire trick of this trend.

There is a real Italian word, troppo, meaning too much, and trippa, meaning tripe. Some people point at those and build an explanation out of them. It is a coincidence. The name was chosen because it is fun to say fast, not because somebody was making a point about offal.

If you run it through a translator you will get nothing useful back, and that is correct.

Spellings wander, because these names travel by ear and not in writing. Tripi Tropi, Troppi Trippi, Tripa Tropa all find the same character.

How to dress as Trippi Troppi

Half of this costume is an ordinary cat face, and the other half is the bit nobody expects. Do not overbuild the cat.

The head is ginger. A ginger or orange hood, or a headband with two triangular ears covered in orange felt and pink inside. Draw or paint the stripes on in a darker orange, running back from the forehead. A pink triangle nose, a pale muzzle, and whiskers made from white pipe cleaners or stiff card pushed through the cheeks. Keep the face simple and let the ears and whiskers do the work.

The shrimp is worn on the back. Cut four or five curved bands from orange card, each a little smaller than the last, and overlap them down your spine like roof tiles so they flex when you move. Fix them to a plain orange top. Finish with a fan of three or four thin plates at the bottom, sticking out behind you.

The legs are what make people laugh, and cardboard is fine. Six to ten thin orange strips per side, each bent twice, taped or stitched along a belt or the hem of the top so they hang down and swing. More is funnier. They do not need to be neat.

Two last details, and they are the ones that get photographed. Long antennae from orange pipe cleaners curving back over the head, and two small black balls on short wires standing up above the cat ears.

Without the build, a character tee with ginger cat ears reads instantly.
